Static Glide Returns with a 3rd installment to the SG series! Our First SG event w/ Telephone Jim Jesus & DJ Egadz was graciously hosted by the good people at Broken Disco, May 9th 2008 after the fire marshal closed the VIP Room. The sets were fantastic and the party turned out great! Luckily we had already planed the next SG party that same month on the 25th. Miniature Airlines & Hjalti /// Levitation Device /// Greg Skidmore /// Struggle blew out the Baltic Room that night.

We’re excited to bring back the Static Glide Party Concept on Friday, February 12th to the ReBar with some of Seattle’s great dance floor manipulators. Skoi Sirius – Relcad – Potato Finger – Miniature Airlines and Travis Baron have quit a lot in store for you all.

SG shows often veer away from norm, leaving behind the typical and always striving for the outlandish. If you are looking for a musical adventure look no further. Sounds of both consonance and dissonance will envelop your senses and heighten your awareness. You may find yourself in a strange new land of secret synth laden basslines designed specifically to move you just where you need to go.

Don’t Miss this Unique night of Glitched out Bass – Dubed out Techno and Sonic Whoomp.

We’ve had the appearance of still waters here at d.iscontent headquarters lately, but there’s plenty of activity in the depths.

Our biggest news is an impending live performance by Miniature Airlines, and not just any live performance; he’ll be participating in the annual gladiatorial event known as the Laptop Battle here in Seattle, at Chop Suey on December 18th. this is a live performance spectacle, pitting 16 musicians against each other in a fight to the finish. Look for a full line-up and other details shortly, and make sure you come out to cheer on Miniature Airlines! Audience participation will help determine the winner of this brawl.

Of course, while preparing for this battle, Miniature Airlines is also still hard at work on his upcoming full length, tentatively titled Arrivals & Departures. There’s no firm release date, but early winter 2010 is the best bet.

Speaking of new albums, Hjalti is in the planning stages of his next aural assault. Now that he’s returned from Scandinavia, he’s upgrading his entire music setup, starting with the battered and sputtering laptop that has served his musical needs for the better part of this decade. Once the new hardware arrives, he’ll be starting on a new project that by all accounts should be bleaker, heavier, and darker than anything he’s done before. Look for this currently untitled project to fully integrate his primal influences, from minimal IDM to grim black metal.

Keep watching this page for more information as all of these projects develop…

We take a short break from our frantic (*ahem*) self-promotional posting schedule for a little cross-promotion: next week heralds the 6th annual Decibel Festival in Seattle. From the 24th through the 27th of September, you can catch some of your favorite electronic artists at a number of venues here in the fine city on the Puget Sound, playing everything from sublime ambience to grimy dubstep, smooth house to hard techno. It will be a rollicking good time, and perhaps you will even bump into Miniature Airlines behind one of the merchandise booths. (I would mention Hjalti as well, but reports indicate that he is wandering the wilds of Scandinavia at the moment).

So come one, come all! Decibel Festival only happens once each year, and it’s not to be missed!

We’ve been a little quiet since February, but I can now reveal that Hjalti is int he final stages of mixing for his second album, to be titled And Will You Leave Me Thus? Say No. Say No. Say No.

The new record has all the darkness and subtlety you expect, with a marked black metal influence that differentiates the new record from its predecessor, Winter Asks What We Did In The Summer. Expect fast kick drums, hazily distorted drones, wide-open dynamics, verbose titles, and some processed guest vocals from d.iscontent’s close ally, Droomstyyg. Along with the five lengthy original tracks, there will be a couple of guest remixes to round out the set. More details will be coming soon, including a sneak preview single of the second track, “The Stars Are Scattered Thinly, and The Cold Of Space Seeps In.” You may have heard this track debut on KBCS earlier this year, so if you’ve heard it, you know what’s coming.

We’re almost there! In about 60 hours, Hjalti and Miniature Airlines will be performing live at the LoFi Lounge in Seattle. Tickets are available for pre-sale right now, at a discounted rate of only $8! There are a total of 7 live acts on the bill, including Anticon’s Restiform Bodies, touring in support of their new album, TV Loves You Back. I can’t tell you enough how incredible and diverse this night is going to be, with music veering from twisted hip hop to blistering black-metal inspired IDM (seriously!). I know there are a lot of options that night, but this is definitely the best value for your money.

If you missed the on-air interview on KBCS 91.3 FM last Friday, you can listen to it online, and get a preview for this upcoming night. Go to the KBCS.FM website, and search for Variations with DJ Gregory D, February 13th from 11pm to midnight. Thanks a lot to Gregory for inviting the boys on!

See you at the show!

“Restiform Bodies certainly sounds like the Anticon group that it is. The familiar flow of twisted words that serve as social commentary and progressive yet minimalist MPC-created beats are prevalent on all tracks on their sophomore LP, TV Loves You Back. The sonic resemblance they bear to their Anticon peers comes as no surprise, considering two of its members (vocalist/MC Passage and instrumentalist/programmer Telephone Jim Jesus) have released solo records for the Bay Area indie hip hop label. However, the trio, which is rounded out by programmer
Bomarr, has managed to carve out its own identity within the roster of likeminded art-hop musicians that they’ve found themselves a part of. Restiform Bodies may be one of the most consistently listenable artists on the label, due in large part to their willingness to craft hooks and counterbalance with their grittiness with a well-defined
melody, a welcome departure from the dissonance and discordant sounds that many Anticon artists prefer.” – Reviewed on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 by Amorn Bholsangngam
